Lenovo Yoga Not Detecting Monitor- Possible Reasons

Some potential reasons can be standing behind your precious Yoga isn’t detecting a monitor. Any of the reasons could be associated with your device.

    Power Connection

Even if your laptop has a proper power connection, your monitor won’t get detected if it has power connection issues. Check out if the power light is turned on or not.

If the model doesn’t have any light at all, try connecting the monitor to another device.

    Hardware Faults

Hardware flaws in various components could be one of the reasons your Lenovo Yoga laptop fails to identify the screen.

Overheating, which can cause the laptop’s internal cables to break, is the cause of such accidents. Check if there are any Internal wires linked to ports where external cables are connected to join other monitors is harmed due to this.

    Operating System

The software files of your operating system can get corrupted owing to faulty sectors in a hard disk. Even though this is a rare occurrence, there’re several possible causes.

There may be an error during the saving procedure that causes the operating system to get corrupted, for starters. A rapid rise in power could also harm the smooth operation of Windows OS.

Lenovo Yoga Not Detecting Monitor- Solutions

Now, let’s go through some of the viable solutions to try to solve the problem.

    Hardware Troubleshooting

As a Windows-based system running on Lenovo, just know that the solution to this type of problem is simple to find.

If the screen doesn’t appear on your monitor, try the following troubleshooting steps before changing the configuration settings:

    1. Make sure to plug the monitor into a power outlet, and it is switched on
    2. If not, restart the laptop to re-establish the connection
    3. Check that the correct input signal is selected using the monitor’s integrated controls
    4. Double-check your laptop and display connection
    5. Disconnect the signal cord from both the laptop and the monitor for a few moments before reconnecting
    6. Make sure the signal cord is in good condition by using a different one
    7. If your display has multiple ports, change the port
    8. Check the monitor with another working monitor to see if it has an issue
    9. Disconnect all other peripherals from the laptop. Such as printers, monitors, keyboards, and so on, to see if it’s the other devices that are interfering with the monitor’s connection

Use Settings to Resolve the Issue

After you’ve confirmed that there’re no issues with physical connections, utilize the laptop’s Settings app to force the system to identify the second monitor.

    1. Go to the Settings menu
    2. Select System from the drop-down menu
    3. Select the Display option
    4. To connect to the monitor, click the Detect button under the “Multiple displays” section
    5. In the “Rearrange your displays” area, in the bottom-right corner, click the Detect button

Your laptop should now be able to identify an external display once you’ve completed the procedures. Then, using the “Display” settings, you can alter the resolution and the scale and orientation as desired.

    Wirelessly Detect the Monitor

Connecting your laptop and display wirelessly is another approach to make them identify each other. Following are some of the measures you can take to make it happen:

    1. Go to the Settings menu
    2. Select Devices from the drop-down menu
    3. Select Bluetooth and other devices from the drop-down menu
    4. Select the Bluetooth toggle switch and turn it on
    5. Select Add Bluetooth & Other Devices from the drop-down menu
    6. Select the option for a wireless display or dock
    7. Double-check that the wireless display is turned on and accessible
    8. From the selection, choose a display
    9. Follow the on-screen instructions

Once you’ve completed the procedures, the wireless display should be auto-detected as a new external display on your laptop.

    Using the Graphics Driver

Unstable, obsolete, or degraded graphics drivers in Windows 10 can prevent the system from correctly identifying and configuring a second monitor. Surprisingly, you can address this issue quickly.

Just update, reinstall, or downgrade the graphics driver to solve the connection between the external display and your Lenovo Yoga laptop.

Follow these steps to upgrade the graphics card driver:

    1. Go to the Settings menu
    2. Select Update & Security from the drop-down menu
    3. Select Windows Update from the drop-down menu
    4. Select View optional updates from the drop-down menu
    5. To extend the category, click Driver Updates
    6. To install the updated driver, select it
    7. Select “Download and Install” from the drop-down menu

Following these steps will force Windows Update to download and install the device driver necessary to detect the monitor. If Windows Update doesn’t offer a newer driver version, you can always go to the manufacturer’s support page and download and install one.

    Reinstalling the Graphics Driver

Then again, it also happens on windows 10 not detecting second monitor on the laptop, and you might think of the connection issue. Maybe the driver has any fault, or it is not compatible with the external monitor.

Follow these procedures to replace a corrupted video driver on Windows 10:

    1. Press the Start button
    2. Type Device Manager to access the device manager and launch the app
    3. Double-click on the Display adapters menu to expand it
    4. Right-click the adapter and choose Uninstall device from the context menu
    5. Uncheck the option to delete the driver software from this device
    6. Select Uninstall from the drop-down menu
    7. Turn the gadget off and on again
    8. Restart Device Manager
    9. Right-click the laptop’s name and choose Scan for Hardware Changes from the menu that appears

    Reverting the Graphics Driver

Follow these procedures to uninstall and reinstall an older version of a graphics driver on Windows 10:

    1. In the same way, get access to the Device manager like we did when uninstallation.
    2. Select Properties from the right-click menu for the graphics adapter
    3. Navigate to the Driver tab
    4. Now, select the Roll Back Driver from the drop-down menu
    5. To respond to the question, choose one of the options
    6. Select Yes from the drop-down menu
    7. Turn on the computer again

    Conclusion

For consumers to experts, Lenovo is a reliable brand of making computers. Whether for business or gaming, using an extra monitor is always beneficial when you need to keep track of many tabs regularly.

Hopefully, this article can assist you in identifying the reasons behind Lenovo Yoga not detecting monitor and solving it.

However, if none of these above solutions worked,  there might be issues with the monitor itself or your laptop. Contact a  professional for troubleshooting in such cases.
