WiFi Not Working On Phone But Working On Other Devices

Let’s start with the reasons when you are tangled with why my WiFi is not working on my phone.

There can be a number of reasons that prevent your phone from not connecting to the WiFi. Not all of them are the results of complicated, technical issues.

Some reasons are simple mishaps in phone settings. A few are more serious and technical.

Let’s have a basic idea about them.

    • First, check if the WiFi connection of your phone is on or off. You may not agree with us but this is the most obvious reason for WiFi not working on Android or iPhone.
    • Bluetooth has a tendency to intervene with WiFi connections. The reason is Bluetooth and WiFi both use a radio frequency that is set on 2.4GHz. So Bluetooth can break off internet access completely or may slow it down considerably. So, when the Bluetooth is on, your phone may not have WiFi connection.
    • Each android or iPhone WiFi connector has an option – it can let the phone connect with the WiFi network automatically or you have to do it manually every time. So, keeping the auto reconnection off is another reason why internet is not working on my phone.
    • Every now and then, we need to turn on Airplane mode for various reasons. If we forget to turn off the option, we will have WiFi not working on an android phone but working on other devices.
    • If the cache memory of the phone is full, the device can get hung. This will also prevent the phone from getting a WiFi connection.
    • The service providers of mobile networks often set data usage limits – both on mobile data and data from WiFi connections. This can also result in my phone is connected to WiFi but no internet usage is possible.
    • The broadband service providers may also impose limits on routers for data usage. That is another reason for which you won’t be able to use the internet on your phone.
    • If there are any technical issues with the router – like it needs rebooting or resetting – your phone will not get a WiFi connection.

How to Fix WiFi Not Working Only on Phone!

Now allow us to share a few solutions to get the WiFi connection back to your phone.

    Restarting the Phone

Let’s start with the obvious. The first thing we would recommend is to restart the phone.

It will relieve the phone from numerous technical glitches. One of them might be the WiFi connection problem.

    Turning Off Bluetooth

First option is easy – turn Bluetooth off while you use the internet connectivity of the phone.

Secondly, you can set your router to use the 5GHz radio frequency band. If the router has is 5GHz enabled, you can change it from the router setting by applying the following steps:

    • After logging into your account, click the Wireless tab open.
    • Select 802.11 band and from there, change 2.4GHz to 5GHz.
    • Confirm the change by clicking Apply.

    Resetting the Wi-Fi Connection

Complete the following steps carefully for enabling of your phone’s WiFi connection:

    • Find the cog icon of your phone – it will take you to your phone’s setting option.
    • In most android phones, the WiFi & Internet options will be the first of many.
    • From there, enable WiFi if it is turned off.

Now, connect your phone to a WiFi network:

    • From the Setting option, tap the WiFi button. This will give you a list of available networks.
    • If the mobile won’t show you the available networks for some reason, find the Scan option and click on it to let the phone find available networks.
    • Now, from the list, select your network. You may be asked for a password.
    • When you insert the password, your phone will have the connection reestablished.

‘Forget’ the Existing Network and Reconnect

Sometimes if you keep using the same network for some time, the mobile may have difficulties in connecting with the network. Following tasks may cure the problem:

    • From the Setting menu, switch the WiFi button off for 10-20 seconds. After that, turn it on again. You may not be able to get the connection back.
    • Select your network and keep it pressed for a couple of seconds. This will get you the Forget option. Click it.
    • Then click back to the same network again. This time you have to reenter the password.

    Resetting Your Phone

Resetting your phone will restore the WiFi connectivity. Do the following:

    • From the Setting option, go to either General Management or System – usually dependent on the make and model of your phone.
    • This option is not the Factory Reset and you will get different resetting options like App Preferences, WiFi & Bluetooth Connectivity etc.
    • Select WiFi & Bluetooth Connectivity or Network Setting – again, depending on the make and model of your phone.
    • To apply a resetting function, you may have to use numeric or alphabetical passwords, pattern lock or pin numbers.

Once again, this is not Factory Reset and will only erase your connectivity preferences like previously used WiFi networks and their passwords, etc.

    • After completing this step, restart your phone to ensure the changes are effective.

Now, establish the WiFi connection with the methods mentioned above.

    Complete Overhauling Of the Router

First, let us inform you of the precise difference between a reset and a reboot of the router.

Rebooting or restarting will cycle the power back to the router. While Resetting will bring it back to its factory settings. Rebooting and resetting the router can solve the mobile phone’s WiFi connectivity problem.

    Restarting the Router

Restarting will erase the network’s cache memory, and like many other devices, it will resolve many minor technological hiccups. To complete a successful restarting, apply these steps:

    • Unplug the power cable, wait for about 45 seconds to a minute and plug the power cable back in.
    • Wait for around 30 seconds to let your router reboot.

    Resetting The Router

Resetting will entail the following changes to your router:

    • Router’s username and password
    • WiFi Network’s username and password
    • ISP or any other Port Forwards’ username and password
    • All kinds of Firewall Settings

So, it is obvious that resetting the router back to its Factory Reset Mode is a pretty serious business. So, please be careful when you reset the router.

    • First, locate the reset button – usually, you will find it at the back. Now, press the button with the help of a paperclip and keep holding it for 10-20 seconds.
    • That’s how Factory Resetting of your router is done.
    • When you plug the router back to life, it will be back to its original state like it was when you purchased it for the first time.

To reconfigure the router, do the followings please:

    • Go to Google Chrome, and in the address bar, go to your router address site. You can find it by searching the router brand online.
    • Type the Username and Password –both of them are ‘Admin’ or may be other. Now you are in, and you should change the username and password to your selection.
    •  Go to Quick Setup and type your service provider’s network, which often is called SSID. Use a password.
    • Save the changes and reboot.

Your router is reconfigured, and hopefully, now you have WiFi connection to your phone.

Why Internet Not Working On My Phone Android?

A few reasons for the internet not working on my phone would be like this – WiFi option disabled, the phone’s Airplane mode on, Bluetooth connection hampering WiFi connectivity, your router may need rebooting and resetting etc.

    Final Words

So, we can say that solving the issue of WiFi not working on phone but working on other devices doesn’t need you to be a tech-geek.

Most of the methods we discussed are common knowledge. And you probably have already known most of them

In that case, it will be our pleasure if we have been successful in enriching your knowledge with a tip or two.

Now be confident and apply them to restore the WiFi connection back to your phone.
