In many cases, you can also solve this issue by simply replacing the AC adapter and the cable or repairing the power circuit. If these solutions don’t work, then you should try to update the battery driver or the BIOS.

Now, what if even these solutions aren’t working for you? Read through the full article for all the possible solutions to fix your Lenovo Yoga Charger by yourself.

Solutions to Fix Lenovo Yoga Charger

Here’s a list of detailed practical solutions for your Lenovo Yoga charger.

    Check for Hardware Issues

One of the first things to check when a piece of machinery isn’t working properly is the hardware. Make sure that your hardware isn’t faulty and everything is working as it should.

Check the circuits, the power line, ensure that your cable is in good condition and that your AC adapter isn’t damaged either. You should also check that all removal cords on your chargers are firmly and properly connected.

    Check the Charger

It can often be the case that your charger is damaged. Fluctuations in the power and voltage can easily tear the charger wires or even burn the pins. Check the pins properly and try out the charger on some other laptop.

If it still doesn’t work, your charger is damaged, and you might need to buy yourself another charger.

Check the AC Adapter and the Electrical Power Circuit

A defective AC adapter or a faulty electrical power circuit won’t provide efficient power to your laptop. This can result in your laptop showing that it’s charging, but it won’t actually be taking any charge in.

You should use another AC adapter if the one you have is faulty and also repair your electrical power circuit if it’s somehow damaged.

    Try Resetting the Battery

If none of the solutions from above worked for you, then it’s time for you to do some laborious work. You need to reset the battery and the power. To do that, follow the steps given below:

    • Manually shut down your Lenovo computer
    • Remove the charging cable, as well as the AC adapter from your laptop
    • Turn the laptop over and carefully remove the battery
    • Now, press down the power button for at least 30 seconds and then release it
    • Carefully install the battery back in and then plug the charger into your laptop
    • Turn the laptop on, and it should be charging now

    Try Fixing Software Issues

Often hardware issues are not the only reason you might think your charger is broken. Software issues can also make your laptop not charge, which might have you thinking your charger isn’t working.

Try these methods before you burn your pockets.

Update Battery Drivers (Especially For Non-Removable Batteries)

If you happen to have a non-removable battery, you need to update the driver for your battery. An outdated battery driver can often cause your laptop not to charge and make you think your charger is not working.

This is why you should make sure that your battery driver has the latest updates. To do this, you need to go to the manufacturer’s website, where you can find the latest version for your battery driver to install.

In order to update your battery driver manually, you need to follow the steps below:

    • Press on the Windows and I keys together
    • Go into Update and Security
    • Then go into Troubleshoot
    • Navigate to Find and Fix Other Problems
    • Then Select Power
    • Click on Run Troubleshooter

Now, it’s time to update the battery driver. First of all, you need to uninstall the battery’s Microsoft ACPI adapter driver.

    • Press on the Windows and X keys together
    • Go into Device Manager
    • Click on Batteries
    • Do a right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
    • Then Uninstall the drive
    • Click on Uninstall

You have now successfully uninstalled your computer’s battery, so it is time to uninstall a new drive for your laptop.

    • Click on Action and select Scan
    • Go back and select Battery and then right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
    • Select an updated battery driver from the list on screen and reset the battery

    Use Third-Party Driver Software

You can also do this using other third-party software like Driver Easy if you don’t have the time or patience to go check the website. These types of software recognize your system automatically and find the proper drivers that you would need.

This makes it easier if you don’t really know the exact system that your laptop is running, so you don’t just download and install the wrong driver. It also eliminates the risk of making a mistake when you are installing.

Try Updating the BIOS for Your Computer

BIOS is software that’s stored on your computer’s motherboard in a small memory chip, and it’s short for Basic Input Output System. If there’s some sort of problem in the firmware settings of your BIOS, then you can have the “plugged in but not charging” issue.

You can try to update your BIOS to fix that issue. To do this, go to the support page for Lenovo, and let them detect your laptop.

From the Product Page, look for Driver and Software > BIOS. You can then just follow the steps on-screen to update your BIOS.

After your BIOS is updated and you’re on your computer, try to plug the charger back in and see if your laptop is charging.

NOTE: You should keep in mind that you need to be extra careful when you are updating your BIOS. Especially because if somehow an error occurs or if you make a mistake, your computer will become unstable, resulting in loss of data. So you should backup all your data before going ahead with the BIOS update for your laptop.

    Update the Lenovo Vantage

The Lenovo Vantage is actually great software that can help you to update your device. Not only that, but it can also detect any type of problems on your computer.

All you need to do is reboot your laptop and reset the vantage software for the “not charging issue.”

    • Start by restarting your computer
    • Then press on the F8 Key
    • Then click on the Advanced Boot Options
    • Select Repair Your Computer
    • After your computer reboots, install the Lenovo Vantage software again

Alternative to the steps above, you can also try to use the steps mentioned below to fix your battery charging issues-

    • Slide your cursor over the battery icon and click on it for the battery layout to come up
    • Search Lenovo Vantage on the search bar or click on it from the battery layout
    • If the Conversion mode is not activated, then active it
    • After this turn the conversion mode off and turn it on again after waiting for a few seconds
    • Your battery should be showing that it is plugged in and charging now

How to Figure Out if the Problem is With Your Charger or Your Battery

In order to isolate your problem, whether it’s because of the battery or the charger, you need to examine both components thoroughly.

Shut down your computer and remove the battery; try to turn on your laptop just using the AC charger. If this is working for you, then you can rest assured knowing your charger is excellent.

If your battery isn’t removable, check if there’s any sort of beep from your laptop when the AC charger is in or if the battery charging lights light up when the charger is in.

If this doesn’t work, then also make sure your power outlet isn’t faulty either. Try out another outlet to make sure. If this didn’t work for you, then your charger is broken, and you need a new one.

Note: In case none of the solutions above work for you and neither does getting a new charger, you should contact the Lenovo support team and have the experts help you out with the technical difficulties.

    Final Words

All of the methods stated above will most likely help you fix and troubleshoot the issue of the Lenovo Yoga charger not working.

Depending on the method of troubleshooting that you went with and the solutions you had to try, it can take anywhere from around 10 to even 40 minutes to fix your issue.

We hope you found a solution that was useful to you and was able to fix your problem.
